Workaround To Let You Work Again

Microsoft have released a patch for Server 2022 and a workaround for Outlook Classic which will let you get back to work again.  Servers configured with non-uniform memory access, aka NUMA, in order to link multiple systems together, have been having boot issues.  This would include just about any HPC setup a company might have, which uses high speed interconnections to allow multiple physical CPUs to access the same pool of memory.  KB5052819 will fix this issue, and while it does contain a number of other previously released Server 2022 patches, it will only apply the ones you haven’t yet applied which should reduce downtime.  If you are feeling lucky, Windows Server 2022 servicing stack update KB5050117 is also available.

The server room wasn’t the only thing impacted by a bad update, the classic version of Outlook also suffered a fairly major issue with a new update; it crashes if you attempt to use it for anything.  The bad patch will cause Version 2412 (Build 18324.20168) of Outlook to crash with 0xc0000005 exception codes if you try to write, reply or forward an email.  This is a bit of a problem as these are about the only things Outlook is used for.  Bleeping Computer have posted the workaround Microsoft provided which uses officec2rclient.exe to force a transitional patch to apply.  Unfortunately you will need to run the command as an admin, so keep that in mind if you plan on pushing it out.
